Adriana Arango, soprano, is currently the Head Choir Director at Fossum Middle School in McAllen, Texas. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, receiving a Bachelor of Music degree. 
Throughout her collegiate career with UTRGV opera, she has performed the roles of Despina in Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte, Queen of the Night in Mozart’s The Magic Flute, and Adele in Strauss’s Die Fledermaus under the direction of Dr. David Sadlier. Additionally, she was the winner of the first ever Concerto/Aria Competition at UTRGV in 2015, and performed in concert with the UTRGV Symphony Orchestra. Mrs. Arango has also received recognition and several awards upon competing in the NATS South Texas chapter as well as at the Regional level (Texoma NATS.) During her years of vocal study with Dr. David Sadlier, Arango has presented four voice recitals including varied repertoire by W.A. Mozart, G.F. Handel, Giuseppe Verdi, Richard Strauss, Franz Schubert, Leonard Bernstein, Amy Beach, Leo Delibes, and more.
Equally involved in the music education department, Arango was selected as the Student Conductor for the UTRGV University Chorale where she assisted in conducting the choir on tour in the spring 2017 semester. Following this accomplishment, she was selected as one of 16 Student Conductors for the Texas Choral Directors Association convention in July of 2017. While at the TCDA convention, she participated in conducting a choir for a music reading workshop. She studied choral conducting under Dr. David Means.
Mrs. Arango is an alumni of The Cornish American Song Institute, having participated as a student both in 2014 and 2015. During her second year as a CASI student, she performed in the world premiere of Dr. John Traill’s art song set, Four Phases. She has performed in CASI student recitals at St. Anne’s College in Oxford, St. Giles Anglican Church in Oxford, Church of King Charles the Martyr in Falmouth, and St. Endellion Church in Cornwall. After having attended twice as a student, Arango returned as the Executive Assistant for (CASI) MAP.
